It was 10 years ago today....this week we take the Latin-Alt time machine back to 2009, a banner year for the genre. Highlights include the Latin electronic fusion sounds of Mexican Institute of Sound and Pacha Massive, the explosive breakthrough debut of Bomba Estereo, and the welcome return of veterans Los Fabulosos Cadillacs and Los Amigos Invisibles.

This week we celebrate the 20th annual Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC) with interviews and music from Colombian rockers Diamante Eléctrico and Thievery Corporation vocalist Natalia Clavier, plus a special guest DJ session from LAMC co-founder Tomas Cookman. 

This week our co-host Josh Norek visits Uruguay, the pint-sized powerhouse nation with vital indie rock and hip-hop scenes. Joining us for interviews are the psychedelic power pop band Boomerang, and the rising Latin hip-hop star Santi Mostaffa.

Julieta Venegas), as well as music from feminist rap crew Fémina, gypsy jazz swing group Barrio Manouche and the browned-eyed soul of LA's Thee Lakesiders.
